“Camera 1,” said the director, and the distance shot of the webcam appeared on the monitor. The meandering group walked slowly toward the pits. Lorraine and Jason’s backs were to the camera and well off to one side. Mikey excitedly jumped in behind a small bush and sat down, rocking back and forth like a disturbed child.

“Camera 2,” said the director, and a shaky shot from alongside the throng appeared on the monitor. The view was that from behind the walking group, the beam of bloodstained wood clearly across Yeshua’s red and bleeding shoulders, his purple robe sagging below at the neckline. The beam drooped to one side dragging on the ground. A man darted in to pick up the end, and helped him carry it the rest of the way up the hill.

“That’s a shot from one of our newbies,” offered the engineer. The other one is on three.”

“Let’s see it,” the director said.

The engineer punched up Camera 3. Mikey’s second pick for a camera person was right alongside Yeshua, his face clearly and expertly framed within the monitor’s guides.

“This guy’s got a future,” said the engineer, very pleased with what he saw.

“Freeze that and save it off…on my mark.”

Yeshua’s face was drained of all strength, his expression a blank stare. The weight of the beam forced his head down, causing him to look at the ground, only occasionally looking up. An angry shout from behind the camera operator cause him to look in that direction, his eyes appearing to look right in the camera.

“Freeze!”

The engineer expertly grabbed the frame and three more in rapid succession until Yeshua looked away.

“That will be our green screen shot during James closing remarks,” said the director, looking at the first frame closely under a zoom setting.

The engineer chuckled.

“What? You don’t like it?”

“No, no not at all. It’s a great shot. It’s perfect!”

“What then?”

The engineer adjusted the hue on the still image and the reds intensified.

“I was just thinking that he looks nothing like those paintings that have been done of him over the years. He is much more…ethnic looking. In one word, you just created the new and concise Jesus portrait, boss. It will be a global sensation; T-shirts, photos, calendars…the works.”

The director didn’t miss a beat. “That’s okay. We own all the merchandising rights. Show me Bug One,” he said dryly.

The drone was stationary about twenty meters above the moving mass of humanity. The two watched as they passed out of view below.

“You recording that?”

“Need you ask? Of course!”

“Good. We’ll use that and then cut to the webcam out front with nothing there, and then cross-fade to footage of them on the crosses. That’s our opening sequence, then music buildup and titling and…commercial.”

The engineer laughed and nodded.

“Did I ever tell you how much I enjoy working with you, boss?”

“You just did,” said the director amused.

“That’s a great teaser, not too close, not to revealing. It’s a lot more relaxed in here when you know you aren’t live on the air, and you can build this up one sequence at a time, huh?”

The director agreed with a grunt.
